Debbie Burk- Jiu Jitsu Instructor

My name is Debbie Burk and will be joining Illuminated Soul Wellness Center as a instructor in Budoshin Ju-Jitsu. I have been teaching self-defense classes over twenty-five years with ages ranging from 7 and up. A free class for a birthday present started the whole thing off, and having brothers in martial arts made it easier for me.

What I have learned through self -defense is that it teaches the child, teenager and adult discipline, respect for oneself and others. The person becomes aware of their surroundings. Importantly it teaches the child and teenager self-esteem and courage. It helps them feel good about themselves and their accomplishments.

Ju-jitsu is referred to as the "Gentle Art" and I will be teaching techniques for the purpose of self-defense. There will also be that opportunity for belt advancement for those who wish to do so. I am looking forward to teaching and helping you feel good about yourself.

Denise Mellinger- Belly Dance Instructor

When I belly dance I feel entranced into an ancient mysterious world rich with ambiance. I feel my dance is telling an ancient mystical tale that is longed by the heart to be told. Since I was a young girl I have been in love with the art form of dance. I would pretend I was mesmerizing Mata Hari. While dancing in a hypnotic snake like dance, or a passionate gypsy dancing enchanting people with my swirling skirt. I took ballet as a young girl. But ballet did not touch my soul like Middle Eastern dance. I returned to my true love belly dance.

I began belly dance in 2003. I have taken numerous workshops to learn from world famous belly dance teachers over the years. I started substitute teaching 6 years ago for MGM dance studio. I also taught belly dance at a Yoga studio for a couple of years. I’m so excited to teach the many facets of belly dance at the Illuminated Soul Wellness Center. My belly dance name is Zaira Zahirah. My name means blooming shining essence of rose. A flower can provoke powerful emotions, change the whole ambiance of a room, enlighten and heal with their enticing aromas. All women are beautiful flowers in the garden of life. Women of every age, shape or color have their own unique dance of beauty. Belly Dance is an ancient art form thousands of years old. Women of any age can belly dance. Belly dance is an art form that heals the body.

I am on an efflorescence life time adventure of well being. Mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally unfold the sacred gifts of Middle Eastern dance. I have many enchanting and mesmerizing tales that I shall express through my dance and teach my students!!!...
