Debbie Burk- Jiu Jitsu Instructor

My name is Debbie Burk and will be joining Illuminated Soul Wellness Center as a instructor in Budoshin Ju-Jitsu. I have been teaching self-defense classes over twenty-five years with ages ranging from 7 and up. A free class for a birthday present started the whole thing off, and having brothers in martial arts made it easier for me.

What I have learned through self -defense is that it teaches the child, teenager and adult discipline, respect for oneself and others. The person becomes aware of their surroundings. Importantly it teaches the child and teenager self-esteem and courage. It helps them feel good about themselves and their accomplishments.

Ju-jitsu is referred to as the "Gentle Art" and I will be teaching techniques for the purpose of self-defense. There will also be that opportunity for belt advancement for those who wish to do so. I am looking forward to teaching and helping you feel good about yourself.

Maridol Armstrong- Zumba Instructor

Latin Dance and Latin music have always been part of my life and my passion.  I came across a Zumba fitness class years ago while looking for a different way to get in shape. Needless to say, I became immediately hooked....  I was hearing the vibrant rhythms I grew up with : Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia, Cha-cha, all combined in one exhilarating calorie burning hour.  I had so much fun I did not feel I was exercising, I felt I was in a party, but the workout was amazing... .

I decided, after a couple of years of seeing excellent results, to get involved and share my passion by becoming certified.  I also became CPR and AFFA Group exercise certified.

Ever since, I have been teaching Zumba Classes and it's different modalities such as Zumba Sentao and Zumba Toning.

I have seen the impact that music and dance have in people's souls and how this "workout in disguise"  changes your self-image and improves your confidence and self-esteem.

I want to encourage you to try it, to be persistent and join a class, you will not regret it!
